Ms. Randi Wickham

Hello! I am a native Texan thrilled to be teaching English and Academic Literacy at McMillen!  I earned my BA in English at Texas Woman's University and went on to earn an MA at Rice University in Religious Studies. I focused on Sikhism during my coursework at the University of California, Santa Barbara while working on a PhD in South Asian religions, which I have finished except for my dissertation.  I spent a year in New Delhi with a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad grant, combining my passions for travel and literature as I translated poetry and tracts of a prolific Punjabi author.  I found my way back to the DFW metroplex and worked in several fields of education--as a reading tutor for students with learning differences, a Special Education teacher, and substitute teacher--before becoming an English teacher here.  I am married with two young sons and we love camping and hiking together.  I also love sewing, knitting, and of course, reading! I look forward to sharing my love of literature with students and can't wait to hear what they have to say!
